Case study · Switzerland

Octi: a vehicle rental marketplace for Switzerland.

Octi lets people and businesses across Switzerland rent vans, pickups, and trucks from vetted rental companies. SoftSprouts built the whole product: the website, a Kotlin Multiplatform app for iPhone and Android, and a custom CMS and backend on Node.js.

The client

A rental platform for all of Switzerland.

Octi is a Swiss platform for renting utility vehicles such as vans, pickups, and trucks from verified rental companies, with options like professional drivers. It serves customers across Switzerland in German, French, and English.

What they needed

One product, three parts.

Octi needed a public website where customers discover vehicles and services, a mobile app for both iPhone and Android, and a way for the Octi team to manage the platform without relying on developers.

What we built

Built end to end by SoftSprouts

Website

The public website where customers discover vehicles and services and get in touch.

Kotlin Multiplatform app

One shared Kotlin codebase for iPhone and Android, so both apps get the same features and fixes together. Launching soon.

Custom CMS & Node.js backend

A content management system and API built on Node.js, so the Octi team can manage the platform themselves.

Octi's public website: utility vehicles on demand across Switzerland, with a preview of the mobile app marked as available soon.
Octi’s public website, built by SoftSprouts (octideal.ch). The mobile app shown is launching soon.
Why this approach

Shared code, one backend, one team.

With Kotlin Multiplatform, the app’s logic is written once and used on both platforms, which keeps the iPhone and Android versions consistent and easier to maintain.

The website and the app share one Node.js backend, so listings and content are managed in one place and appear everywhere at once.
